Business Objects XI Intermediate

This course is targeted to all students who have a need to create more advanced BusinessObjects reports. It will provide an overview of the various methods to present and highlight data, including formatting features, selection criteria, summarizing, and combining data from more than one source.  Creation of variables and functions are also covered.

Prerequisite Classes

·         Introduction to Business Objects XI Level One

Performance-based objectives

The primary objective is to teach the basic skills necessary to use the Access 2003 program.

·          Identify and utilize various BusinessObjects tools to select and format data

·          Use the Slice and Dice panel and Report Manager features

·          Create variables, alerts, and calculations between two values

·          Create and utilize templates and change standard report styles

·          Creating queries that include data from more than one source

·          Drilling across and up/down through data

Access 2003 Level One Course Content

1.  Tailoring and Organizing your Web Intelligence Environment

·         Setting preferences (General and Web Intelligence)

·         Modifying a document in Interactive View mode

·         Creating a dashboard with My InfoView

·         Working with Folders

·         Working with Documents

·         Filtering documents in a list

·         Deleting documents, folders, and categories

2.  Restricting Data Returned by a Query

·         Working with query properties

·         Applying complex query filters

·         Prioritizing operators

3.  Report Design in the Java Report Panel

·         Viewing a document in the Java Report Panel

·         Presenting data in free-standing cells

4.  Creating Custom Calculations and Variables

·         Formulas and variables in Web Intelligence

·         Creating a new variable in a report

·         Creating a variable from document functions

·         Using formulas to create advanced alerters

5.  Synchronizing Data from Multiple Data Providers

·         Synchronizing data from multiple data sources

·         Projecting data from different queries using a single universe

·         Projecting data from queries using multiple universes

6.  Enhancing Presentation in Reports

·         Organizing data using the Java Report Panel

·         Restricting data with report filters

·         Ranking data to see top or bottom values

·         Highlighting results with alerters

·         Organizing a report into sections

·         Copying from a Web Intelligence document to another application

7.  Formatting Information

·         Working with the Properties tab

·         Adding headers and footers to a document

Business Objects WebIntelligence Advanced Reporting XIR2 (This course is provided by Business Objects only).

This is a full day course that will further enhance report creation skills in BusinessObjects.  It is strongly recommended that a student work with BusinessObjects for several months after the level 3 course before taking the Advanced Reporting course.
